Stronger President Barack Obama or Bill Clinton?

The reason why I ask this is because I was listening to the radio from a Bay Area station this morning the host is Ronn Owens, most renown talk show host in the SF area a self proclaimed middle of the road, who supported Bush and Cheney's war. During the run up to war he actually lost a bet to a caller over Iraq having WMD'd. He ended up paying the caller a $100 for losing the bet.

Well he said today that if Obama was a strong president, like Bill Clinton, he wouldn't have trouble with Democrats bucking the Iran deal.

I was young when Clinton was president so my memory might not be as good but hasn't Obama accomplished more than Clinton as President. By the way I voted proudly for Clinton as President. And if Hillary is the Nominee I will happily vote for her

He does vote consistently for Dems as President

1. Bill Was a Better President-Obama Has Actually Accomplished More

may not be a popular opinion but when you start stacking the list of accomplishments achieved by Obama its pretty damn impressive from a historical view especially considering unprecedented obstruction from Republicans. He did move the Country to make long lasting changes that permanently changed this Country. I think Obama will be treated well by history. Presidents never accomplish anything close to what they hope they might in this divided government

Pres Clinton signed into law a shit-ton of bad policy. For example, he touted and signed into law the repeal of Glass Steagall which was a major cause of the economic meltdown a decade after he left the scene of the crime. Welfare reform and NAFTA hurt millions of Americans. All in all, it's no contest. Pres Obama is and history will remember him as the better, more effective president. Plus he's kept his pants on.

Towards the end of his term, I was ready for his administration to be done. Let Gore start....ugh! I would imagine in a few years after his term is over, I will appreciate President Obama more then I do today.

Obama the unprecedented obstruction, Clinton the Whitewater and Monica scandals.

Obama inherited a much tougher economy and wars to overcome but has learned to disregard the repugs finally and just move ahead with his policies. He got a lot done despite the obstruction and is still working on the Iran deal and normalizing relations with Cuba.

Clinton and Hillary weren't able to get healthcare done but everybody was working back then as he benefited from the dot com boom. Everybody was working, which is huge. That needs repeating. He never really fully recovered from the scandals and the impeachment though as the repugs kept stuff going for much of his time in office.

7. Couple of things.

Obama inherited much, much more difficult circumstances to deal with in early 2009 than Bill Clinton did in early 1993: two wars he didn't start or even vote for and a collapsing economy in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression among other things. A record number of Senate filibusters by a traitorous opposition party has made problem solving much more difficult if not impossible.

Bill Clinton benefitted enormously from a booming tech industry throughout the 1990s. Planting a PC on every desktop in the civilized world was a big job. Lots of new tech jobs left a lot of other jobs unfilled; it was a job hunter's market. Unfortunately, some employers exploited the situation to move their lower tech jobs offshore.

8. After Clinton got his ears pinned back in the 94 midterms he basically became a republican

and as a result we have welfare reform, media consolidation, Glass Stegall reform and a lot of crappy policies that in part brought on the recession that Obama inherited. And most of the crap he had to deal with was a result of his own moral failings. I voted for him twice, but the second time was a "lesser of two evils" thing. By the time he left office I was happy to see the end of him. The only thing I liked about him at that point was that real republicans hated his guts.

Nope, in my mind, Obama is a far more accomplished and stronger president than Clinton ever dreamed of being. And I'd be willing to bet anything he won't spend his post presidential years sucking up to various members of the Bush family.

What you have to remember about Ron Owens is that he judges every politician on the basis of how nice they are to Israel. And of course he thinks Obama isn't very nice to Israel because he refuses to kiss Netanyahu's ass. His show isn't terrible but I don't have much respect for his political opinions.
