Finally, a GOPer willing to state what we knew all along--that they consider a woman's body to be property...chattel. Sad thing, the legislator that said it is also a woman.

North Carolina Republican state Rep. Jacqueline Schaffer successfully urged her colleagues to pass the nations longest waiting period for abortion on Thursday, arguing that woman should have a cooling off period just like real estate transactions.
In her address to the North Carolina state House on Monday, Schaffer explained that HB 464 would increase the waiting period from 24 hours to 72 hours, joining states like Missouri, South Dakota and Utah.
We see waiting periods all throughout areas of our society in the medical context as well as in the real estate context, in the, you know, issues relating to marriage, Schaffer insisted. The poorest decisions that we make are the ones that we make under pressure and on impulse and so we want to ensure that women have ample amount of time to receive that information so that they can make the best decision.

(86,843 posts)the gauntlet has been thrown down myriad of times now, so when will women fight back by stopping the train wreck by withholding sex and all manner of service to those who have this psychosis. Since religion is big with these mental midgets, how about claiming that whatever they want from you is against your religion or faith? And hold off until this madness abates within them and our governing entities? I mean, it all starts with their lack of acceptance that you have right with regard to your bodies and if that's what they want control of, fight them with their own argument of religiosity.
Just saying.

(86,843 posts)"service" part, I already mentioned the sexual part but I also mean that they should receive no help as in cleaning, cooking, making coffee and whatever or anything that makes their lives better in any way.
Apologies, didn't mean to be offensive. Men seem to expect that women need to do all manner of domestic chores and other mundane tasks that they deem to be within a woman's domain... shouldn't let them have that as a gratuity either.

(35,702 posts)72 hours in most cases. No one discovers they are pregnant and then tries to get an abortion the same day. Idiots. All this does is put more burdens on poor women who live far away from an abortion provider. Now they may have to drive for hours only to be told to go home and come back after the waiting period. Idiots.

(5,815 posts)Just the other day, a friend of mine had the urge for an abortion. A craving, really. I told her to wait, though, that it would pass. But she insisted she had to have one right this second. Luckily, California clinics have drive thru.
