Cincinnati pub under fire for offering offensive Bruce Jenner 2.0 dish: half-hot dog, half-taco

A Cincinnati gastropub came under fire from LGBT activists after it briefly offered a Bruce Jenner 2.0 hot dog, a split hot dog served as a taco as a daily special, reports WCPO.

The Senate Pub offers several hot dogs named after celebrities, but the Jenner dog, launched in anticipation of the former Olympic athlete’s announcement that he was transitioning to a woman struck people as more offensive than clever.

“As much as I love the Senate team, the description of their ‘Bruce Jenner’ hot dog of the day made me cringe a little,” said Chris Seelbach, first openly gay politician elected to the Cincinnati City Council.

He added, “I understand that Senate’s daily hot dogs are supposed to poke fun at celebrities, but given that Bruce Jenner is possibly coming out as transgender tonight, and knowing how difficult that is, as seen with the suicide of Leelah Alcorn, I’m not sure I would have done with that description.”

After complaints flooded in, the restaurant pulled the item and announced that all proceeds would go to a local charity in the name of Alcorn, a local transgender teen whose suicide drew national attention.
