(2,682 posts)the theory was that when a small number of people at the top owned all of the wealth of a country, and there is no or a very small middle class, and the majority of people owned/earned nothing, this was the formula for revolution. It was describing the various communist revolutions around the world, but if the theory holds, it could mean US.

(23,156 posts)my history teachers often said that Revolutions are most likely to happen not when things are at their very worst, but when they've started getting a little better.
I don't know enough history to verify that, but it does make sense.
I think that for a generation or more (ever since Reagan) things have been slowly getting worse for many Americans. The ruling elite has done a very good job of dividing us, of making us feel as if that group over there is the reason we can't get ahead. My fear is that things are not bad enough, that the ruling elite still convinces far too many that they (the ruling elite) can be trusted, and so they get re-elected over and over. It is a truly scary thought that things need to be worse than they are.

Unless the MSM just flat out refuses to acknowledge him and marginalizes him. In which case we will have to use social media strategies to their most creative and fullest extent to both shame the media and spread his message.
