What This NC State Rep Said About Women’s Bodies Is Beyond Twisted

North Carolina Republican state Rep. Jacqueline Schaffer managed to convince the state House (mostly along party lines, of course) to pass a bill that triples a woman’s waiting time to obtain an abortion from 24 hours to 72 hours, on Thursday. While talking about why she thought it was necessary to further complicate and lengthen the inconvenience most women go through when making the decision to have an abortion, Raw Story reports her comparing a woman’s body to a piece of real estate: “We see waiting periods all throughout areas of our society in the medical context as well as in the real estate context, in the, you know, issues relating to marriage.”

Oh, really? This shows just how twisted the GOP’s thinking is by putting women in the category of property. A woman shouldn’t have to suffer any more abortion restrictions designed to shame, embarrass, or prolong her decision.

Despite the hundreds of attempts to make it otherwise, abortion is still legal (much to Republicans’ chagrin) and I hope that when the North Carolina Senate takes up HB 464, they will see it for what it is: another way for Republicans to try to dominate a woman’s body and mind.

Hey women! You are nothing but real estate to the GOP. They are ready to sign the purchase and sale agreement!

Scrolled by the photo too fast and just caught that mouth... see, it sorta went with the headline. Did a double take... backed up and couldn't get past the stage make up and the opening sentence, "North Carolina Republican..."

That does not look like a normal human being, she looks like a skeleton who is wearing makeup and a lace front wig and veneers.

I shudder to think what she looks like without the wig and makeup.
