And by amazed, I mean amazed by the double standard by the media and society.
And that all of that was about fucking pumpkins.

(43,219 posts)So apparently because the Keene Pumpkin Festival didn't feature property damage to business along with the hundreds of beer bottles lobbed, street signs dismantled, fires started, tires slashed, dumpsters overturned, and cars that were attempted to be overturned, it can be explained away as general college student rowdiness? No calling those students "animals" or demanding that they be shot with live ammunition?
Don't get me wrong, idiots in Baltimore smashing the windows of businesses are no more justified in their actions than idiots in Keene going crazy at a pumpkin festival. But look over the Youtube comments on any videos regarding Keene and compare them to comments on videos showing what happened in Baltimore a few days ago, and I'm pretty damn sure you'll see a serious difference in tone. Even though if you were to re-label a Keene video as something that happened in Baltimore, most people wouldn't know the difference but for the different demographics of the people involved.
So you say Baltimore wasn't as bad as Keene because you didn't see any businesses being damaged. I'll see you that, and raise you the fact that the issue underlying the unfortunate violence in Baltimore was the death of a man in police custody. The issue underlying what happened in Keene was large, orange gourds.
