Swastikas at Stanford University investigated as hate crime

http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Police-investigating-swastikas-at-Stanford-6227358.php

Someone painted swastikas and a pentagram on the Stanford University campus over the weekend in what university officials are calling a hate crime.

“I am deeply troubled by the act of vandalism, including symbols of hate, that has marred our campus,” Stanford President John Hennessy said in a statement. “The university will not tolerate hate crimes.”

Students discovered the Nazi symbol and pentagram early Sunday at several student residences, including the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and Casa Italiana.

The campus has recently been debating anti-Semitism after the undergraduate student Senate in February took a position favoring divestment from “corporations identified as complicit in human rights abuses in Israel and Palestine” and recently questioned a Jewish student senator about her views on divestment.

Pentagram.......would be interesting to know if it's one point upward or two. WillowTree Apr 2015 #3
My guess would be two. KamaAina Apr 2015 #4
Why would you hope that? WillowTree Apr 2015 #5
I would hate to see the pagan pentagram (one point up) KamaAina Apr 2015 #6
Fair enough. Thanks for explaining. WillowTree Apr 2015 #7

This is probably just the work of stupid kids on a drunk, but it still takes a special kind of asshole to paint a swastika.

A pentagram is nothing but a five-pointed star.

I am not all that shocked by the swastikas, anymore than I will be shocked by the inevitable posts about its glorious history and how "people" need to get over it and let the symbol be "reclaimed."

juxtaposed with a swastika. (Two pints up is the Satanic one.)

The Satanists only use the 'inverted' as a symbol, but many pagans will use the "one point up" for many things, but do use the inverted one on occasion, depending on the situation.

I know among many of the Wiccans, the "upright" is almost always used, but various other groups use both. The point was used to signify whether the "power" was coming "from above" or "so below."
