More Flash Flooding Possible in the Northeast; Plains Storms Farther North This Week (FORECAST)

Thunderstorm activity early this week will focus on two zones – one in the East, where heavy rain is the biggest concern, and one over parts of the Plains, where hail, high winds and tornadoes will be more of an issue.

Unlike much of May, however, the Plains threat will focus mostly from Kansas northward instead of Oklahoma and Texas. And while the latter two states catch a break from the heavy rain, parts of the Northeast have already begun to deal with waterlogged conditions. Serious flash flooding struck parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the New York City area Sunday.

There will also continue to be some strong storms in parts of the Northwest and northern Rockies early this week.

Below you can find details on the forecast, as well as the latest minute-by-minute updates on severe weather, flash flooding, and radar maps of the stormiest areas.
