and I'm sure there is a salesperson out there smiling because of his skills -- the use of bold, the information and text & choices of photo ops, the bullet points, the Mother Jones most environment friendly candidate, what this person says about O'Malley etc who strikes me as more of selling the candidate but I'd recommend others do their own research to be informed & get the whole picture. The best I've seen squeezed out was an admission his zero tolerance policing violated civil liberties because the ACLU filed lawsuits and courts ruled that it did with over 100,000 arrests in 2005 the year before the 2006 governor election.

I respect O'Malley on a variety of number policies LGBT rights and ending the death penalty are big ones but I tend to dig deeper when I see mentions of this or that and often find the picture painted to be misleading compared to the reality and I don't mean the OP -- I mean O'Malley on stump speeches. This isn't anything other than being honest to point out where he is right and wrong or anyone else for that matter or about the OP (though I've never seen anyone more impressive at DU at selling a candidate) but I have noticed people that liked him due to their initial impressions dropped when they later found out more so there is information mentioned and information omitted -- the most effective propaganda technique is omitting. More like a campaign commercial.

He was a top 5 "Big City Mayor" and so much rising star promotion the "go to guy on national defense" for the party (can't remember who was the second one, I think Time was the first one. Lack of information on O'Malley has never been an issue

Councilman Wins Baltimore Mayoral Primary

BALTIMORE — A white city councilman won the Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday, defeating two black candidates in this predominantly black city by promising to clean the streets of open-air drug markets and to have zero tolerance for crime.

Martin O'Malley won the primary with 61,219 votes, or 53%.

In a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans, 9 to 1, he is expected to easily defeat his GOP opponent in the general election in November. If he does win, O'Malley at 36 would be the youngest mayor in the city's history.

"From the first day of this primary campaign to tonight, I never once doubted the fairness, the goodness and the intelligence of the people of Baltimore city," O'Malley told supporters gathered at a children's museum.

...I'll tell you what, JonLP24. I'm a low-wage night grocery worker and a lifetime resident of D.C./Maryland. I've not only been privileged to observe the record of accomplishments of Martin O'Malley in my state, I've actually benefited from several of them.

Pointing out one plank of his policing policy isn't 'digging deeper,' it's just cherry-picking from the surface. What I am offering for perusal here is a look inside of his record of progressive accomplishments; none of which are diminished by a zero-tolerance policy of arrests. I don't believe so, and the overwhelming number of voters from those communities affected who supported him in each and every election don't believe that either.

As you can see, I've responded in detail on other threads, about that policy you're highlighting. Propaganda? I'll keep it to myself what I really think of that accusation. I'll look for your similar posts about other threads on other candidates and their record.

Interesting that you don't have ONE thing to say about this very important accomplishment in my state. You want a debate about policing? Start a thread on that or respond on the several other threads discussing that policy. Raising that here strikes me as the very thing you say you oppose.

For most of what you mention I'd be nitpicking mostly but for another example the photo OP at the bottom -- He certainly had a lot to do with the event occurring when he could say no to it but I'd be surprised if he didn't do it on Women's History Month but overall nothing was bad about it but he shows up at the end to meet the young girls & the photo op following the event chosen based on leadership potential to participate on the panel with notable women. Nothing bad really just slightly misleading but the information in the link was more detailed on what the event and more impressive information on O'Malley such as

The better information was left out for the photo OP so I would have to be really nitpicking there but just giving an example of "digging deeper" from something recent the propaganda mention wasn't meant to be about you but the shoe fits as an accusation just that what is presented and what isn't and an overall suggestion to look for information that isn't promoted or what a candidate says on a stump speech like O'Malley anti-Hillary though he endorsed her for President in 2008 as "Hillraisers" working for his campaign strikes me as odd for someone typically known as a moderate a tough on crime moderate at-that though his ending Death Penalty is something I admire more than you know.

I certainly dig deeper on all of them, I've dug into Open Secrets came across the one stock IBM Bernie Sanders aside from conflict of interests issues (you should see Boehner's transactions page) I don't see much wrong with the company outside of Hitler but it seems to be based on they are big into green energy technology so there were events Bernie Sanders participated in sponsored by IBM all about green energy & green technology -- compared to what I've seen from the oil & gas industry (where former board members are often Secretary of Defense) this is more welcomed but the only thing I have on dirt (no one is being so extensively vetted on GD where his praise of Scandanavian-style social democracy is twisted into he supports sexism). On Hillary Clinton don't get me started but I posted things like the King of Morocco's 1 million donation to the Clinton Foundation and their lobbying to the Obama administration -- phosphates are a big part of it but he wants his Western Sahara occupation recognized but for now he gets fighter helicopters.

Anyone else I wasn't to familiar with, it helps that I am with O'Malley for a long time which outside of Bill Richardson or Texas governors I can't think of too many I was familiar with outside my own state. The rhetoric from O'Malley recently is baffling compared to the O'Malley I have known as him trying to out-liberal Hillary Clinton but on Elizabeth Warren I was one of the couple actually criticizing the private defense contractor she got a subsidy for but mainly I was the challenging the common bought economic myths you see for subsidies in general, sports stadiums, casinos (could be worked into O'Malley thread if I wanted to), etc but have mentioned other concerns. The Native Americans claims controversy bothers me but I'm not going to make a show of it on DU and she still remains one of my top ten favorite Senators. I honestly don't care about the personalities just the policies and will mention whenever & where ever I feel Bernie Sanders is incorrect on an issue (remarkably he rarely is -- almost prophetic when looking back)
