I just wish Bernie was about 20 years younger.

He's a month younger than I am.
We're both 73 and will be 74 by fall.
I'm sure as hell losing a step or two, and I know it.
Short term memory is spotty at best.
Not as steady on my feet as I used to be.
Vision is deteriorating.
Macular degeneration.
It sux.

I know he's smarter that I am.
I hope he has better genes and DNA or whatever.
Being president on the United States puts you in an unimaginable pressure cooker.

I think he's running for all the right reasons.
Not ego or a quest for power.
Just a genuine concern for our country and social justice.
Bless him.

I too am worried - about Hillary's blood clot that was in her brain. But I am sure both of them have consulted with their doctors. Sounds like you need to do that too. I am older than Hillary and a bit younger than you - and have none of your old age problems!

Macular degeneration.

I have some cataracts starting, but have known that would happen since 1995, when I had a detaching retina zapped back up with lasers. Memory very good (damn, looking back, I would like to forget some stupid stuff i did, honestly), and every day I play texttwist to at least 100,000 - 200,000 - just enough to make sure I am not losing words or the ability to form the words.

If Hillary took Xarelto to dissolve that blood clot - that is some bad stuff. I worry about that. I have a 37 YO friend who gets and throws clots and has tiny strokes. Lost about three years of memories a little while back. So, my conclusion - anything can happen, any age, but I am more concerned about HRC's health than Bernie's, and, like I said, doctor visits all 'round. I am sure neither one would take a risk.

It is Harriette. Duh me. My mom just scolded me (she is 88, and 89 in June.) Harriette was a neighbor of my mom's friend Lorna, WAY back in the day.

Yes, she is from my hometown. They had a great front page on her the other day in the local paper (Charlotte Observer).

She is an inspiration. Nobody is too old until they decide they are, imo.

I'm glad you corrected me lol, if there were TWO 92 year olds running marathons....well...I would have to go for a run right NOW.

Until the last year of his life, after he lost his wife of 65 years, my grandfather was not as sharp as he had always been

My maternal grandmother was swinging me around the year, doing exercises my mother couldn't do, at the age of 78. And until she was 96, she took care of her own home and a daughter.

He can put a full day in the print shop but his main contribution is being the ideas guy and shepherding those ideas into a finished project. He's incredible. At work everyday at 8:30 and out at 5:00.

Our next oldest staffer is 76.

Anthony Bourdain will be interviewing them and the rest of the staff for his "Raw Craft" show.

and we might have some terrible unforeseen accident of some kind that slows us down a lot, it does seem as if staying as active as possible is the best thing a person can do to stay healthy.

Please. Don't anyone interpret this as a criticism, that I'm implying if only you were a bit more active everything would be copacetic.

Bernie Sanders does seem remarkably sharp, and a while back I was concerned about his age, but I no longer am.

Nordic Walking
Fast paced.
Check it out.

I do crosswords and online brain games, trying to keep the brain cells stimulated.
It ain't like I'm giving up, not by a long shot.

I do volunteer work on the board of directors of our Friends of the Library and Wolf Bay Watershed Watch, keeping the bay clean.

But I've still lost a step or so and I recognize it and try to compensate for it.
Not a basket case yet.

I'm 66, and I can tell I'm not as young as I used to be, but I stay reasonably active, and like you try to exercise my brain cells. We do all know that it helps, but it's not a guarantee of anything.

Personally, I have plans for my 97th birthday. There's a total eclipse of the sun August 12, 2045 that I want to see. My two sons know that if I'm still around, and I'm not so ga-ga I don't know my own name, they must make sure I see it. What's so interesting to me is that ever since I decided I want to see this eclipse, my sense of how much longer I have, simply expanded a lot. I know I might not make it, and if I do get fairly close I'll then find some other thing I want to see or do a few years later. Eventually we all depart this life, I know, and I hope (everyone hopes) I get to be in good physical health and completely there mentally until the end.

in regard to an event they both attended where Bernie ran circles around Thom who is in his early sixties and no slouch in work ethic either. I would only be concerned if his mind were slipping which it absolutely is not.

Even if he succumbs to some old age physical disabilities it shouldn't affect his ability to make decisions and be the country's CEO. FDR died in office and was very sick but it didn't destroy his ability to lead.

And I wish I was as healthy as he is at my age, but chronic illness oh well. Anyway, I think it's great to show that people can still have fresh new ideas even at age 73 (yeah same ideas he has had forever, but still first time many people will hear what they think out from someone else it will sound new). I heard him speak in Minneapolis he is excellent at giving speeches and he didn't have to take a break from giving a longish speech, I would have and so would a lot of people who aren't even 40 years old, it's not easy under the hot lights. Bernie is an inspiration and it's what this country needs like back in JFK's time.
