House GOP Passes Death Star Bill, Obliterates Local Control

(I suspect North Carolina will be one of the other states where this is done - since Michigan and Wisconsin are 'test beds' for destruction in Republican-controlled states in the rest of the country)

LANSING — Progress Michigan released the following statement regarding House passage of the Death Star bill, or HB4052:

“It is apparent that the House Republicans don’t give a damn about local control, they only want total control,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “This bill is a shameful attempt by corporate-sponsored elected officials to allow big business to profit off the backs of Michigan’s hardworking families.”

'Death Star' bill protesters interrupt House committee meeting

The bill is a re-introduction of a concept first discussed in December, which aimed to ban local communities from stepping into the employee-employer relationship by establishing ordinances for things like mandatory sick leave or wage levels. However, one draft of the bill included language that may have undone local protections for LGBT people.
