Nearing Possible Government Shutdown, Alaska Governor Issues Layoff Notices To 10,000 State Employee

JUNEAU, Alaska, June 1 (Reuters) - Alaska Governor Bill Walker issued layoff notes on Monday to more than 10,000 state employees, serving notice of a partial government shutdown that would begin on July 1 unless state lawmakers can agree on a budget for the forthcoming fiscal year.

Alaska is facing a $3 billion budget shortfall, worsened by a global oil price plunge, and lawmakers have been fighting for more than four months over how to fund day-to-day operations.

Another state run into economic ruin by Republican leadership. Will people ever figure out that their economic policies are junk?

never never a sound financial decision. Who ever would have thought in the 21st Century, after decades of talking about and moving ahead with alternative energy, that Oil wouldn't be the long term, never fail, go to product?

Former Alaska First Gentleman Todd Palin is into snowmobiles and thinks dog sleds are for girly men.

Todd Palin races in support of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, with a snowmachine decked out in a patriotic decal that pays homage to one of the greatest snipers America has ever known. Hooyah!
