the moral character of the modern republican party was forged out of the crimes of the nixon era, the pardon of the ford administration, the limited political blowback (one democratic term) and the discrediting of carter and the glorifying of reagan.

they learned that marketing trumps character any day of the week, at least if you've got enough money for the advertising.
