Furlough notice from the State of Kansas

As you may be aware, if the Legislature does not pass a budget by 11:59 p.m. on June 6, 2015, the State of Kansas will not be authorized to disburse funds for Fiscal Year 2016. Without this authorization to disburse funds, the state will be forced to implement furloughs starting at 12:01 a.m. on June 7, 2015. The issue is not whether the state has the resources necessary to fund payroll, but that there is no authority to distribute those funds without a budget.

So, the Republican controlled legislature so far has failed to do its job. Now what? More to come.

start selling it all off. Privatize the state more, yippee! Fire sale for the Koch brothers and all their little, unknown entities. Yep, gonna be a fun time.

the DMV or any other agency people will notice. Prisons won't be left unguarded and police will still give parking tickets and shoot black kids.

Any money around will be shifted from poverty, housing and food programs to programs presumed voters will demand.

It's not that government will be shut down, it's that government will be shut down in the way least liable to piss off Republican voters.

This will be interesting. Even though I'm nonessential, I'd like to see it go on for long enough to get some national press. This state is owned by the Koch brothers, and this is what it comes to.
