General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just witnessed some delicious hypocrisy
and just had to share...
I was just at my local IGA where I noticed a pick up truck with a huge 'Not a Liberal' sticker on its back window...
I went inside and while at the counter noticed the people in front me use their food stamp benefits... I could care less, of course...
Until I see them get into that pick up truck and drive over to the gas station next door.
My suspicious mind couldn't help but wonder if they were going to go buy some cigarettes...
Yep, they were. Pulled out a 20$ and got themselves a few packs.
It took everything in my being not to say something to them or call them out in front of people.. but as a liberal that they dislike so much, I respect their privacy while using said benefits...
But mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the hypocrisy was sooooo sooo YUMMY!
Sorry, I Had to share with some body or it was going to eat me up... so I have burdened DU with that
Sorry in advance.

(14,449 posts)It may not be their car or could be one of their kids car. We don't know.

(8,127 posts)and im 100% positive it was theirs..
I live in a city of around 7 thousand people..
I could even tell you the street they live on, that's how often I see certain people around town...
this was just the first time I had been directly behind them in a line...
but still, I respect the safety net system too much to do something like that (alienate someone using it)...

(24,902 posts)People that are disabled or otherwise in need of assistance that only Government can provide that hate gummint.
2008 Crazyman/Palin stickers on a truck that I know who the owner is and who I know also has a housing choice voucher (section 8 for those who do not realize the name has changed). Reason is non-existent here.

(111,480 posts)After all, he could have been buying them for somebody else.
However, I might have commented about his sticker and biting the hand that fed him.
Stupid people can never connect the dots. They need help.

(8,127 posts)that if they are like most conservatives I know..
they are anti anyone besides themselves
and taking these benefits just fits into that greedy ego of theirs
But youre right.. they could be single issue folks.. they definitely exist and in large numbers...
I had the pleasure of changing a one issue voters mind a few years ago..
they absolutely didn't care a thing about anything beyond abortion..
I pointed out the moral hypocrisy in believing in life, but only when its in the womb ...
they agreed..
decided to vote democrat for the first since their first time voting (they had voted democratic in their youth)...

(11,443 posts)There is this big fat loudmouth dude, about 50 I guess, who has all kinds of repuke stickers on the back of his pickup truck including that one. I see him in the local convenience store and sometimes in the Dollar General out in the rural area where I live, so he obviously lives somewhere in this area. Well, a few weeks ago I pull up to one of the stores and see his truck parked out front. There was a new sticker added just below the red "Not a Liberal" that said "Just a Moron". The fool had not even noticed it. It was all I could do to keep from cracking up laughing at him when I was standing in the checkout line.

(34,142 posts)enough to follow them and get upset about them buying cigarettes? Apparently you cared more not less.
I so applaud your not saying anything.
They could have been buying for someone else, either the food or the cigarettes but who cares? Isn't it enough that they are not getting by well enough to not need food stamps?
Still, glad you did not say anything.
Change has come
