The editorial director of InTouch says theres a whole lot more to say about the Duggars.
David Perel, who runs the magazine which broke the story about Josh Duggars sexual molestation of several sisters, told the Washington Post that they are not done yet.
Do I have more information on the Duggars in general? Perel said to the Post. Yes, Id say we have some significant things coming out.
The Post also reconstructed where the Duggar story originated from and suggested a woman named Tandra Barnfield apparently was a helpful guide.

(19,460 posts)I heard through the grapevine that Josh Duggar and family have moved back to Arkansas from their rented home in DC. Don't know if this is true but I would not doubt it since he probably can't find a job now.

(8,646 posts)I'm sure it was minimized to the point of sounding innocuous. She was probably told he had 'sinned' in the past and had 'impure' thoughts or some such shit. Remember, she was raised in the same cult so it's likely even if she did know the details, she may have thought it was the victims' fault for 'tempting' Josh. That's a common view in that cult, that the men just can't control themselves around females, even if that female is a child.
I cannot see her leaving him. She doesn't know any different. She believes that if someone is sorry for what they did and asks God's forgiveness, then they should be forgiven and have their slate wiped clean. If anything, I can see her and the rest of the family circling the wagons. She is 100% completely as brainwashed as the rest of them.

My sympathies.

(16,867 posts)has done is to derail his political career. I'm sure that's what he was doing in Washington -- preparing himself for a run for some high office. Obviously, he was Huckabee's protege. I don't know if the scandal will make him keep his hands to himself, but I think his political ambitions have been thwarted, and I'm grateful for that.

(1,245 posts)If he's actually (still) one of those evil pedophiles (you know, the kind that 'deserves' to be prison-raped, according to some), and really, neither do any of us.
But it does seem to me ... if there's one 'class' of person in the entire world that actually MIGHT have just been a 'temporary' molester, it's a male who was 15 years old at the time, with their hormones raging. Especially one who grew up in a family that taught them nothing about 'reality', or proper respect for females, or their bodies, or the changes that they were going through ... but kept cranking out babies like there was no tomorrow.
Just sayin' ... if it's EVER possible, it seems like a 15 year old boy is a reasonably good candidate for someone who might be able to outgrow an affliction like this. Myself, I'd like to think it's at least 'possible' ... and I'd hope most people would feel the same.
To be clear, I don't mind watching the whole family's downfall from a 'political' perspective, but I'm not quite ready to fully condemn a person for what they did as a 15 year old child ... without any actual evidence that he's not seen the error of his ways and reformed himself in the interim.
That could change, upon further evidence, of course, but as it stands now .. he was a child who did wrong. And we generally try to forgive children for their misdeeds, do we not?
Then again, he's not 'one of us', so ...

(26,060 posts)REAL therapy, I would agree with you. But he never did - summer work doing construction is not therapy and I would hope child protective services is keeping a close eye on him.

(14,449 posts)I totally understand the want to protect your child from going to jail, but they went to far in "making this all go away." If they had taken him to the police station immediately upon finding out, get a good lawyer, got probation and help with the girls getting real counseling to. And after all this, I could sorta defend him with reservations on the current job he was involved with. But the parents made this completely worse and I blame them most in this. The parents were arrogant during the interview.
