http://nypost.com/2015/06/15/bride-rages-as-waldorf-cancels-reception-after-shooting/Anna Goldshmidt was in her suite, preparing for her nuptials, when the accidental shooting occurred during a pre-wedding cocktail hour in the hotels lobby Saturday evening, sources told The Post....
Goldshmidt learned of the gunplay only when the hotel cited it as the reason it was canceling her reception, leaving her hysterical, a law enforcement source said.
She let out a blood-curdling scream, the source said.
Real-life bridezilla!

(269,365 posts)because unless that contract did cover such an unusual happening, the Waldorf will pay big time. That said maybe she should choose her guests more carefully. Who goes to a fugging wedding with a gun (in a state where it's illegal)?

She stashed the weapon, for which Vladimir has a permit, inside her purse, then handed it to off to his wife, Maya, sources said.
Vladimir owns a liquor store in Eastchester in The Bronx, and relatives told cops he carries the Ruger to protect himself.

(10,007 posts)I learned as an adolescent that if you had anything to drink - even one beer - you did not touch a gun.
And to think that there are idiots out there lobbying for concealed carry to be allowed in bars. IDIOTS.

(62,444 posts)Two of the Waldorf's employees were injured. The gun had not been located as of the scheduled start of the reception.
But, no, I would expect the contract to include provisions to the effect that generating a disturbance of this sort empowers them with immediate termination without refund (or without refund of a hefty non-refundable component).
Once the ballroom is booked, the hotel cannot rebook it for that night.
No sane attorney would provide the Waldorf with a booking contract that did not give them the ability to shut down a civil disturbance without a refund.
And if I were the hotel's attorney, I would be warming up my "tough shit" voice. They wounded two employees, and damaged the premises and the reputation of the establishment. I'd be looking over sending them another bill for extra staff time for dealing with the police, cleaning up, and filing for an order barring any of them from being anywhere near the hotel ever.
I suspect that you're winning this one

(61,721 posts)I might sympathize with her. You don't get to choose youf family. If it was a friend, then she should have chosen her friends more carefully.
But she should have told all of them to leave their guns at home.

(29,098 posts)I feel sad for her. Although I personally don't "get" the desire for such conspicuous consumption for a wedding of this type...it was important to her and should have been a time of happiness and celebration for her friends and family. There aren't that many times in life we can celebrate in this way...and it is a shame that a major life milestone was ruined for them.
I don't blame her for being "hysterical"....If this happened to me or my kid I'd be screaming too!....What else can you do?
