O'Malley Campaign to Hillary: TPP, Fast-Track More Than a 'Process Issue'

from Politico:

After delivering a version of her standard stump speech in Concord, Clinton held a rare 18-minute news conference...

“The TPA is a process issue. The issue for me is what’s in the deal” she said. “I think this is a chance to use this leverage so that the deal does become one that more Americans and members of Congress can vote for.”

Martin O'Malley ?@GovernorOMalley
For the thousands whose jobs are on the line with TPP, fast track is not a 'process' issue: it’s a vote on their future & their livelihood.

Clinton made a big deal about calling for automatic voter registration and at least 20 days of early in-person voting.

Those are good ideas. I agree with her. But they're process issues.

Last week her position was that process issues are important. Now she finds it convenient to dismiss them: "The TPA is a process issue. The issue for me is what’s in the deal." This is like saying: "Voting rights is a process issue. The issue for me is who wins the election." The whole point of focusing on process is that it can often have a decisive impact on the substantive outcome. Voter suppression is one such instance. Trade policy is another.

being so narrow in the references to what's wrong with the TPP. And that includes Bernie. What's wrong is a lot more than job losses here. And the crux of the matter is concentrating more power and "rights" with corporations.

...the President's appeal is centered on assuaging concerns about jobs, when the most destructive aspect of the pact is the precedence given to corporations' profits over regulations and laws pertaining to the environment, food safety, health, energy, climate change and pollution...establishing a tribunal which would trump courts and stifle lawsuits defending the above prerogatives in favor of commerce.
