Dear MoveOn member,
Breaking news: House Speaker John Boehner has been forced to delay legislation to fast-track approval of the secretive trade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).1
Here's what that means: We're winning. Last Friday, Congress said no to this job-killing corporate giveaway for the first time. And today, Speaker Boehner has had to delay his own "do-over" votea stunning blow to the giant corporations that have been pushing this deal.
But the fight is far from over. Just hours ago, Republicans voted to give themselves six more weeks to buy, beg, and borrow enough votes to ram this through.

(75,480 posts)they would try to move it through during the Fourth of July week when public and media attention were focused elsewhere. Doesn't Congrees usually also take q vacation break at the end of July, which means if they actually wait the six weeks it would postpone it until after Labor Day and more distractions?
Exactly, what are they up to?

(75,480 posts)That's certain. Particularly, near the offices of our Congress people, so they are aware that we are having none of the sneaking in legislation practices often employed by them.

I see lots of gift baskets, airplane rides, and Jamie Dimon calls in some Democrats' future. Perhaps the promise of more money for campaigns, that sort of thing.
And watch for the other bullshit - TTIP, TISA, other corporate goodies. TPP is the tip of a rotten iceberg.
