CHARLESTON, S.C. Stopping by the Palmetto State for the second time since becoming a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton will on Wednesday roll out a plan to provide businesses with tax credits when they hire apprentices, in an appearance designed to both appeal to young voters and draw attention to youth unemployment.
The Democratic front-runner is set to speak at a forum at Trident Technical College in the afternoon, where she will use a personal speech to detail her plan that expands on a push by New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, a Democrat, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, a Republican. In particular, Clinton will focus on the higher rates of unemployment in minority communities, an aide said.

Clinton has begun to unveil more detailed domestic policy positions in recent days, but her tour of the early-voting states has been dogged by questions about the specifics of her position on the trade debate ripping through the Democratic Party in Washington not to mention the momentum building for one of her challengers, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Sanders campaign on Tuesday night said it had changed the venue for his upcoming swing through this city, due to a larger-than-expected number of RSVPs. This news came only days after the states AFL-CIO effectively endorsed his candidacy.

(55,894 posts)it's sad how little some DU'ers seem to know about how other countries work.
Labor and Unions need to join the 21st century and revitalize.
This idea has the potential to do great things.
Clinton doesn't go far enough and probably won't.
But the dynamics must change.

(20,317 posts)It's truly bizarre that we have this corporate segment of the party that so openly and unconsciously promotes trickle down economics, as if it's just practical stuff. And they actual have their gullible fans clapping for it and claiming they're solid Democrats.
I remember when this supply-side nonsense was broadly recognized as far-right stupidity, even by mainstream Republicans.

(114,904 posts)I don't love Bernie. I don't agree with him on all things. Having met with him, I think he can be brusque and at times impatient. As for your candidate? I opposed her long before I supported Bernie, dear. I oppose her on policy after policy. I oppose her because I think she is dishonest. I oppose her because I think she acts as if the rules don't apply to her. I oppose her because she has no political courage and is a weather vane. I oppose her because I find her deep Wall Street and corporate ties, disturbing. I oppose her because of Iraq, Libya, Honduras and Syria. I could go on.
I support Bernie because of his policies and his record, and his history of honesty. You want to call that being a fanatic, hon? Go for it, joey. And joey, YOU are the last person who should be accusing others of fanatic devotion to a candidate.

Funny, how very rarely I see Hillary supporters discussing real issues, but it is interesting how they fabricate her anew this time around.

Fine. I'll say it. I won't vote for HIllary if she's the nominee.
and yeah, I'll gladly leave DU for the duration.
I think she's a despicable opportunist, dishonest, a big supporter of the military industrial complex and much more. Almost all of it counter to the democratic ideals I believe in. I couldn't vote for her and remain true to my beliefs. And yes, I do think the Supreme Court is important, but I cannot support Hillary.
End of story.

(9,610 posts)There are apprenticeships in modern times. I have met plenty of people who have gone through them. They all seem to come from back east. You do not (or I have not) ever heard of any apprenticeships on the west coat or western parts of the USA.

Let's see... a handout to corporations, or higher taxes on those corporations to pay for real jobs? Hmmm.
