... there WAS no mass murder in Charleston last nite.
I speak of Charlie Rose, GMA and whatever the heck they call the thing on NBC.
They're all talking about celebrity stuff, pop-culture bullshit, the WEATHER ( of course) , cosmetic surgery and just aimless witless banter among the various gaggles of on-air types.
This is a new package so I'm having trouble getting to cable. But these network shows are supposed to be NEWS programs, primarily. Are they not?
No wonder we're so clueless all of the time.
I finally got some info on the Fios station. Not much , but something.
Anyone know how to get to the cable stations quick w. the Verizon Fios package? ( I'm in NYC, if it makes a difference.)

(17,997 posts)Habit I guess. But I can't stand most of them. Especially Paul. Unless it's Friday and he's working with the kids. But he's pretty much a bigot.

(25,171 posts)I guess I watch because they don't take themselves too seriously. I do like Anna Around Town. And Demetrius and Erin. Definitely more entertainment than news though.

(17,997 posts)They spent about 30 seconds on the story of the terrorists, racist, murders in South Carolina. Maybe a minute. While probably 90% is about the Hawks parade.
I understand that the parade is bug news here today. Traffic, weather and public transportation all are part of that. But I think they could spare another minute or two on the mass murder and the lives taken so violently and horribly by this racist piece of shit.

(63,926 posts)the coverage by reporters on that show was good.
All I could think of was those poor people who survived this horrible shooting. Their despair and reaching for answers and some solace from God was just the most moving part of all of the coverage. And the dignity in such a traumatizing time was incredibly brave...

(2,062 posts)Well, I'm not sure what news program you were watching, but at 7 am eastern time, The Today Show lead with this story, covered it extensively, did their "sappy bullshit what are you feeling now" interviews. They had the FBI analysis Van Zant on, They discussed as a hate crime, they showed the grainy photo of the alleged killer and the car. It was called over and over a hate crime, so I'm not sure your point is totally accurate.

(14,498 posts)... and now the co-host is outside in Rock Center kibitzing w. the crowd about "Who's image is on the 10 dollar bill?".
More fun and games.
So much for mass murder.
Oooops. Roker's on to "moisture and tropical depression in Missouri" now.
Flood watches too.
He doesn't sound too worried.
Enough TV for me today.

(14,337 posts)aired the entire Press Conference this morning. 7 AM? My husband had it on but I was taking a shower and only caught the end of it.
The newscasters kept showing the picture of the gunman and giving a number to call if anyone has any information. Maybe because Florida isn't that far from South Carolina? Gunman might have fled to nearby state?
