If it's such a great thing that HRC has evolved on multiple issues, and we're told repeatedly by supporters that we should not only grant her sincerity but praise her for doing so, why shouldn't Bernie be granted the same courtesy that they are so insistent that Hillary should be granted?
Personally, I don't much care whether they do or not, but I find the blatant hypocrisy revealing.

(114,904 posts)continue to support marriage equality, but I do think that her very late evolution on the issue, until the American people were in majority support of it, speaks to her motivations both for opposing it changing her mind. Someone posted a video of her speaking against it in 2004, and it was pretty littered with bigoted, religiously based "reasoning". She was passionate in her support for traditional marriage and its "sanctity".
Clinton has a history of positions based on political reasons. Sanders does not. I can attest to their being no small degree of truth to the accusation that he's a "broken record", and I suppose that too can be criticized. His focus is laser like on inequality.
In any case, I haven't insisted that people grant Bernie the same deference about changing his position on gun control as HRC supporters have demanded re her changing positions and policies. I merely posed a rhetorical question to make a point. And the HRC supporters who attack Bernie on the issue, won't even acknowledge that he has changed his position and voted for increased gun control. They simply lie and say he opposes it now.
As, HRC will likely be our nominee, I'm glad to see her shift her positions to the left on issues, but no, I don't trust her. She's vague on too many things. I won't ever be falling for that again. And alas, it's not realistic to think we can hold a President's feet to the fire.

(19,877 posts)It's Bernie supporters who claim evolving is bad and everyone must vote consistently one way since 1986. But when Bernie evolves it's A-OK, eh?

(114,904 posts)and frankly, I think he's still too weak on gun control. But unlike Hillary, Bernie doesn't have a long history of maneuvering for political advantage. She's known for doing just that.
There are legitimate issues to criticize Bernie on, but being inconsistent on issues, isn't among them.

(30,439 posts)Why do you have to always try and tear down Hillary?
Look, we get that you don't like her and you already stated that you won't vote for her if she's the nominee, but this is getting kinda creepy.
Try building up your candidate without tearing down another.

(114,904 posts)flooded the thread about Bernie's message about the shootings at Emanuel AME Church, with comments about how he doesn't support gun control.
And fail, dear. I posted an op months ago saying I had changed my mind and would vote for her. And I've repeated that every tiresome time that I'm I'm asked or rather faced with a demand that I declare my allegiance.
I notice YOU don't ever say similar things to Hillary supporters tearing down Bernie. I actually do challenge Bernie supporters that I think are being sexist or those using right wing sources.

(95,007 posts)Plenty of folks say they'll never forgive her for her vote (I believe the phrase "blood dripping from her hands" was used recently), but are happy to give Bernie a pass on gun control?

If you have to badmouth the other candidates there may be a weakness in your own.

Or I would be if I went by your standards.

(114,904 posts)She never apologized for advocating for the deportation of children. And she didn't admit to being wrong on Iraq until virtually the entire country was furious about the war and thoroughly disgusted by it.

2). The gun industry is not immune from legal actions based on product failure and consequent damages. Like any other industry.

(24,692 posts)We all judge the sincerity or facility of the evolution but is unrealistic to expect our candidates to never evolve.
To me fear of evolution, even the political kind, is more of a republican characteristic. Their candidates have to always and forever have to have unchanging views on guns, abortion, gay rights, taxes and a host of other issues.
