Or is this just blowin' smoke? Hard to tell about anything coming out of the mass media anymore.

(14,176 posts)....I don't want to misattribute this news, but I think it was Brian Stelter from CNN (formerly media reporter for NY Times, now host of Reliable Sources) said that Andy Lack, the new president of NBC News, wanted a reel of the best stuff from the underperforming shows on MSNBC. That included Alex Wagner, Chris Hayes, Ed Schultz, and I'm not sure who else (not Tweety or Rachel).
He was reportedly unimpressed and the staffs of the shows feel like they are on a very short lease because their shows might be cancelled . The cancellation of one or two of those shows might result in a window for Mr Williams...
I'll try to find the original article. ETA: Here is is...Mediaite

(39,215 posts)shows you mentioned and if you have noticed there are a whole bunch of idiots lately. Ed Schultz pulled the plug on one of them and the last several nights Chris Hayes did the same and has been proving that the guy was a liar ever since. There is more so called entertainment junk on the shows lately also.
The CEO said he wanted to make these shows more like news used to be. LOL. In the 50s, 60s and the 70s we did not watch news for entertainment. And their were options as to who you wanted to watch - local, conservative and liberal and they did not mix their messages. They reported what was happening and commented if they wanted but listeners were not forced to listen to the other side if they did not want to.
I personally think that it has all gone down hill since the so called improvements.
