Jeb Bush: The 'I Don't Know' Candidate

So, last Friday, two days after the horrific mass killing of nine worshipers at an historic black church in Charleston, S. C., after which the 21-year old white perpetrator stated his premeditated intent was to commit murder against black people, Jeb Bush pathetically dodged a direct question whether he thought the murders were racially motivated by saying that he 'didn't know what was on the mind and heart of the shooter'.

He 'didn't know'.

From HuffingtonPost:

In case you missed it, the race-hatred massacre in Charleston has left Jeb Bush clueless. He's not sure if race is actually a factor in this horrific episode of domestic terrorism.

Every major news outlet in the country -- well, maybe not Fox? -- reported that a survivor recounted the killer "had said that African-Americans have 'raped our (white) women, and you are taking over the country."

Could it be any clearer that this is a hate crime directed at African-Americans in a historically important Black church? But when asked point blank if the crime was motivated by race, Jeb said, "I don't know." Despite the mountain of evidence that's already there, he doesn't know.

There's a hell of a lot Bush doesn't know. Back in February at a Chicago Council on Global Affairs luncheon he was asked about NATO's stance in the Baltic region. He said, "I don't know what the effect has been, because, you know, it's really kind of hard to be out on the road, and I'm just a gladiator these days, so I don't follow every little detail."

Asked about failed states in the Middle East, he came out with this gem: "I don't have a solution. I mean, I -- I -- I've read articles, you know, about whether the 1915 kind of breakout of the Middle East and how that no longer is a viable deal."

He admitted he was no foreign policy expert, in a bizarre way: "Look, the more I get into this stuff, there are some things [where] you just go, you know, 'Holy schnikes.'?"

The New Republic has noticed this trend as well.

Whatever the reason, "I don't know" is one of Bush's favorite phrases. Here are some of the many things he should probably know about but doesn't.

On whether the federal government should enforce laws against marijuana in states that have legalized it:

"In medical marijuana states? I don’t know. I’d have to sort that out." – August 15, 2014.

On whether man is causing climate change:

"I'm a skeptic. I'm not a scientist. I think the science has been politicized." – July 8, 2009.

"I don’t think anybody truly knows what percentage of this is man-made and which percentage is just the natural evolution of what happens over time on this planet." – May 21, 2015.

On whether he would have invaded Iraq, knowing what we know now:

"Yeah, I don't know what that decision would have been, that's a hypothetical." – May 12, 2015

On whether "religious freedom laws" that allow discrimination against gays are a good thing:

“I don’t know about the law, but religious freedom is a serious issue, and it’s increasingly so, and I think people that act on their conscience shouldn’t be discriminated against, for sure." – March 19, 2015.

On whether the Florida legislature should compromise and accept the Medicaid expansion:

"I don't know. That's their job, frankly. Expanding Medicaid without reforming it is not going to solve our problems over the long run." – April 16, 2015.

On whether Hillary Clinton should turn over the private server that stored her State Department emails:

"I don’t know. I don’t know what the laws are. I think being clear and transparent in a world of deep disaffection where people don’t trust folks is the right thing to do." – March 26, 2015.

On a potential Sarah Palin presidential candidacy:

"I don't know what her deal is." – February 24, 2010.

On the quality of his own potential candidacy:

"I have no clue if I’d be a good candidate, I hope I would be." – December 14, 2014.

On the quality of his own potential presidency:

"I think I could serve well as president, to be honest with you. But I don’t know that either." – December 14, 2014.

He also claims not to know why so many of his close business associates and political appointees have turned out to be criminals.

Meanwhile:

He knows that unwed mothers should be shamed;

he knows that Medicaid should not be expanded;

he knows that all abortions should be banned;

he knows that unions must be broken, especially teachers' unions;

he knows that education should be privatized;

he knows that only heterosexual marriage should be allowed;

he knows that he would have attacked Iraq, even in view of what we know now;

he knows that personal end of life decisions should be subject to his religious beliefs;

he knows that he knows better than the scientifically-trained Pope about the climate;

Jeb knows better than to take his economic advice from the Pope. Why, Jeb's coal CEO buddies would applaud that.

Another annoying question for Jeb Bush:

Why are you insulting the country by insisting that you are qualified to be president?

Chimpy could have at least muttered something somewhat relevant and appropriate in response to Charleston.

Good Dog, I am defending the Chimp. Pigs must be flying and hell freezing over.

What's really sad is the guy doesn't know what he needs to know because his head is filled with what got the nation into the mess we're in.
