the removal of confederate flags from government sites, nothing of substance will have changed. The flags are the beginning, they cannot be the end.

With retailers like WalMart and Amazon pulling sales of rebel flag related items I think there's suddenly an acknowledgement that the rebel flag symbolizes racism and hatred. Furthermore, I feel like this acknowledgement is a huge step in wiping out these artifacts of hatred.

removing the racist flags is important but if no racist policies are changed then their removal changes little of substance and would be an opportunity lost to grow the momentum, imo.
