There's been a lot regarding Hillary, but I haven't seen any for Bernie yet. But maybe I've missed them.

(36,926 posts)But we talk about polls all the time here. I just haven't seen any about Bernie v. GOP contenders.

(99,719 posts)And respectfully I don't know what you mean about being defensive...Everybody here knows I have been a huge Clinton fan since I signed up in 2003...What they don't know is I have been in the bag for the Clintons since 1991.
IMHO, they are winners who get things done.

(90 posts)far better vs Republicans than Ms. Clinton vs Republicans?
Perhaps it's because Bernie's message is for EVERYONE, not just for the Democratic Party?

(30,481 posts)The only significance such a poll could have would be if you followed the trend over the next year. That is the only way it could have meaning. I say that and I love polls and believe they are very important. They can also be beyond useless. As one here would.

(27,787 posts)absolutely beat any GOP opponent in the general before they'll switch from supporting Hillary in the primary.
If that doesn't happen, Bernie won't win the primary.

(30,481 posts)I also think that is an unfair standard. Not saying you are promoting the standard, you are just making a point of it. The standard for support in that regard should simply be to see the team he forms around him. I have stated before that is how he will get me on board with my vote. There is a very good chance he will get my vote just as an anti-establishment vote. One of his most ardent supporters on du asked if he was seriously running this morning. That mindset is going to make it tough for him to move forward with great success. With the right team he can do it. A grassroots campaign can get you off the floor. How he uses their support and money will determine if he will win.

(27,787 posts)The people I mean are like my wife. Does not follow politics closely, but is a real dem. Will vote straight Dem. And already believes Hillary will beat any GOP opponent.
She is the target audience that Bernie and his supporters need to flip.
And attacking Hillary won't flip her ... but it will piss her off and make it more likely that she will donate and work for Hillary.
So when I see folks claim Bernie has to go negative, as the OP has done, I shake my head. Its not going to help.
He'll need polls showing him beating Jeb and Walker as well as Hilary does.

(30,481 posts)I think in a couple of months he will need to show he is at least challenging them in the polls. I don't think it is necessary now. I did comment on the post about Sanders going negative. That approach doesn't make much sense. Specially when so much negativity already surrounds his campaign against his own wishes. I'm not sure why people have yet to see that those not paying much attention to politics become light supporters of Hillary when she is relentlessly attacked.
