It is amazing. The fact is that you don't take four words out of context for the whole document.
The SC did good this time

I have serious issues with the decisions the SC
has made.
Most of them favor the lunatic right wing.
I am glad for their ruling on the ACA.

(92,539 posts)payer, but the reality is that it was NOT going to happen, they didn't have the votes, and I am talking about Democratic votes to make it happen. Bayh, both Nelsons, Lieberman, Landrieu, and other blue dogs were NOT going to go for single payer.
I guess it is the view of the glass being half empty or half full, or cursing the darkness because you only have one candle.
You have to start somewhere. Medicare had shortcomings when it was passed, and still does

Now everyone is covered if they want to be at a price in sync with their income.

It is definitely BETTER than nothing, but I fear we may have passed up the first real opportunity we had to get European style (good) coverage, for just "better than what we had"..

(82,383 posts)We were never going to get it through the Senate. The public option, let alone single payer.
That's why people have to pay more attention to who gets elected to Congress, rather than that the right President will make it all happen.

(92,539 posts)dogs that were unwilling to support single payer or a public option at the that time. They only had a 2 year window, because the midterms were very uncertain if the Democrats would still control both houses.
The real possibility is that if people can elect more progressives to Congress than there is a good possibility that single payer can become a reality. Doubtful that will happen before the next census though, due to the gerrymandering that occurred in the house
