Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has joined major U.S. retailers such Amazon, Walmart and eBay in pulling Confederate flag products from its line-up after nine black parishioners were gunned down at a church in Charleston, Carolina last week.
Alibaba Group prohibits listings of materials that are ethnically or racially offensive across its platforms. As such, we will be removing listings for flags, clothing and other memorabilia that display the Confederate flag imagery, spokeswoman Rachel Chan told Reuters.
The accused gunman Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old white man, could be seen posing with a Confederate battle flag in images posted online prior to the shootings.
Meanwhile, Vocativ reported this week that Amazons best-selling Confederate flag was made in Taiwan. The 3-feet-by-5-feet printed polyester flag, which was removed from Amazons listings this week, had received a four star rating and mixed reviews from customers.

(38,613 posts)2. This whole flag backlash has been such an unexpected delight.
On Facebook, I posted the texts of the confederate states' Declarations of secession, for the purpose of exposing my right-wing southern ex-classmates to the real history of their beloved flag.
I'm not very popular with them right now
