Cliven Bundy will be held accountable, Interior secretary says

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy will be held accountable for the federal land grazing fees and penalties he owes, a top federal official said.

Bundy became a national figure in April 2014 when he and scores of supporters got into an armed standoff with federal law enforcement officers over his cattle’s years of alleged unpaid grazing on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, whose department includes the BLM, says Bundy will eventually have to answer for what he owes the federal government, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

“Cliven Bundy has had multiple court orders to remove his cattle from federal public lands and he has not paid his grazing fees and he has not abided by the law,” Jewell told the Review-Journal Wednesday on a visit to Incline Village, Nev., where she spoke at a Western Governors’ Association event.

There are more contemptible people out there than the Bundy minions, but they are few and far between. Anyone who pointed a weapon at federal agents should be in prison.

This asshole should not see dime one of federal money for anything, and a lien should be placed against his estate. He owes US money.

on public land if he isn't going to pay the BLM fees. It gets really dry out in Nevada.

social security is my only steady income...being 73 and disabled I cannot find a job....I have sent out 300 applications since the end of April and not one offer....what the government does to us seniors is unforgivable and devastating....we struggle to survive as it is....many seniors pushed into poverty..things like food and meds are often out of our reach.....I have not had a good meal in weeks....and things like the Internet are our only source of entertainment...thank god for DU so I can keep track about what is happening in our country.

karma will certainly hold him accountable."

Blah blah blah blah blah.

There was a standoff, and the US government fled with its tail between its legs.

He won.

And the Interior Department ain't gonna do crap about it.

people were driving in from other states to show up at the Bundy ranch. It was a propaganda victory for the right wing militias sending the stampeding herd of cattle into the land & inspired Nevada Bundy Ranch supporters killed a couple of cops and planted the Gadsen flag at the scene but I'd like to see more deescalating with the follow-up investigations. Certainly some situations need the urgent action but too often people are being killed and fail to see there are that many potentially cop killers. Certainly was at the Bundy Ranch but it was wise to avoid the bloodbath.

I don't know what the Interior Department is going to do or what areas they enforce but I'm sure the FBI began investigating the standoff not long after. I think cooler heads prevailed in that instance though.

It's disgusting that he is allowed to walk the streets a free man. People like do evil things and inspire other people to do evil things. Why not? There are no consequences.

Perhaps some real patriots could use the Second Amendment as their cause. Use the Second Amendment to kill off the cattle that are trespassing on our land. A long, semi-automatic gun with a high capacity magazine would do the trick I believe.

aimed at the federal law enforcement officers. A group standoff that grew in numbers the longer and longer it went on, it is stranger than fiction type shit and cattle grazing was the context of it all. I'd be afraid of ending up in a black site doing half the stuff the right wing militias there and elsewhere did but even saying the things they are like training for war against the federal government. Wasn't there a crime that was committed there somewhere? I mean why the focus still on cattle grazing? People have been getting shot on a daily basis for much less than what happened there.

The Gov. state and federal, flag the deed for fees and fines payments.

Even regular credit card companies and student loan lenders, mortgage banks, flag the deeds.

I believe its the only private land- connected to public land (our land) in that vegas county with river, running water.

Of course the Gov. will sell the private land part they seize for 'back fines' but they will sell it to someone like a cattle corp. or a mining corp.
