But as the advice goes:

Mourn the losses, for they are many. Celebrate the victories, for they are few.

(Calvinist = teetotal) and raise a glass to marriage equality. Just like I did when my church came out in support of consacration of gay marriage in 2004.

do you even realize that with TPP (and whatever comes after that), that in the future on things like Equal Marriage, ACA and Fair Housing, that we may not even have any say in it? that we will have delegated it all to unelected secret trade councils? these 'trade' billls go waaaaaay beyond just trade - they give away authority over almost *everything*

I am going to celebrate two wonderful days of very important decisions that affect millions of people in a very positive way.

I'm sorry you are unable to do the same and choose to remain in a funk about something that may or may not happen.

and clearly, you dont get how big it is

because it seriously threatens to take away your ability to write your congress person about *anything* you care about, because they can just say 'sorry, that's no longer my jurisdiction'

(and it's no coincidence that social issues were in the highlight, as TPP quietly slid through - Flag burning and gays in the military were the big issues when NAFTA got slid through, leading America's working class to the slaughterhouse 22 years ago)

It will be months before TPP comes up for a vote and 3 months after the public is able to read it instead of relying on speculation trading as fact.
