To the pastor who said he would self-immolate if SCOTUS allowed for marriage equality: Numbers 30:2

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers+30%3A2&version=ESV

Numbers 30:2 - If a man vows a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth

Fire And Brimstone Pastor Promises To Set Himself On Fire If Supreme Court Rules For Gay Marriage

Rick Scarborough, a religious fundamentalist and former Southern Baptist pastor, says he intends to set himself on fire in protest of marriage equality.

In a "National Emergency Coalition" conference call between two Christian fundamentalist preachers, former Houston-area pastor Rick Scarborough told former Virginia GOP politician E.W. Jackson that he would rather burn than "sanction" a same-sex marriage.

"We are not going to bow. We are not going to bend, and if necessary we will burn," Scarborough said — suggesting that he'd self-immolate in protest of a forthcoming marriage equality ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court.

I look at it this way. They pick random bible verses to justify why gays couldn't marry (even if they still wear leather, eat pork, wear mixed fibers and enjoy dinners at Red Lobster, etc etc) so I'll remind him of some random bible verses too.

Anyone have a light?

In Florida, a relative could Baker Act him (involuntary commitment) and have him evaluated for his mental health!

But, seriously, folks, if he goes through with this, all we have to do is ensure that Hannity is right next to him getting his promised waterboarding treatment. Water still trumps fire, right?

I will say the wailings and lamentations over at FR are pretty entertaining. Lots of "THESE ARE THE END TIMES!!!! JESUS IS COMING!!! GOD WILL PUNISH US!!!" posts.

He said he would be wiling to be burned to death in his fight against marriage equality, not that he would set himself on fire if it became law of the land. It makes for grandiose language until you realize that his fight will consist of blogging against marriage equality an railing against it from his pulpit... neither of which puts him in danger of becoming a flambe.
