In truth, Ms. Coulter and the whole conservative movement must look at Obama in wonder, wishing they had somebody who could do what he does. Yesterday made very clear why Obama trounced Mr. McCain and Mr. Romney in his presidential bids, and would have seriously trounced all comers from the right. He is simply better than they are - at politics, at elections, at speaking, yes, but also a better person. Ann Coulter knows Obama is better than her. She knows he's smarter, more accomplished, a better writer and speaker, simply better. It's at the root of what burns her so much about him. She knows he's better, and the result is that she knows she's trash. I'm reminded of that line in Pretty in Pink, where Andrew McCarthy's character figures out James Spader's character's true self: "That's what you hate about her: she thinks you're trash, and deep down you know she's right." Ann Coulter knows she's trash, and every time Obama soars, it becomes more and more plain to her.
