Me too. There's more at stake in Obama's approval ratings as he ends his second term than making Obama feel good. Historically the odds are very long for the party that has held the White House for 8 years to win the following presidential election. In fact, it's only happened twice in the last half century that one party has had the presidency for longer than 8 years, and each time it was when the incumbent at the end of his term had an approval rating of over 60%

Ronald Reagan was at 63% approval when his Vice President, George H.W. Bush, won the following election, and Bill Clinton was at 66% approval when his Vice President, Al Gore, won the following election (Ok...he won the election, not the Court.)

For Hillary or Bernie or Martin or Jim or whoever else the Democrats could possibly nominate to have a chance, Obama has to go out with a hefty portion of the electorate believing he's done a good job. It could happen.
