Sheriff: Ramsey Co. Deputy Caught On Camera Abusing K-9

Sheriff: Ramsey Co. Deputy Caught On Camera Abusing K-9
June 26, 2015 12:52 PM

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Ramsey County Sheriff’s deputy faces criminal charges after he was caught on surveillance cameras abusing his K-9 partner at a Carlton casino.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Brett Arthur Berry was at Black Bear Casino on June 14 for a canine training and certification event.

Deputies were called to the casino just before 3 a.m. on June 15 on a report of animal cruelty caught on camera involving Berry, who had been asked to leave the casino’s Cobalt Lounge earlier in the night by deputies due to staff complaints.

Berry was observed on camera leaving the lounge, going back to his hotel room and then leaving with his K-9 partner five minutes later. He was then observed carrying the dog to his car while being visibly upset.

But I think this one is more correct because this happened at the Black Bear Casino where they were holding a K-9 training session and I have not heard any more about it.

4. Wherever it happened, they'll probably really try to muffle this story as much as possible.

It really doesn't speak well for the person who thought this cop would be good with a K-9 partner.

Too bad he can't be kept from being around any animal for the rest of his life. Very sad seeing the dog was assigned to someone who won't control himself. Not a good trait in a policeman.

old age and was mourned by the entire county. We have a very strong and active animal rescue group here so if it was here they will not get away with it. And there is evidence on cameras at the casino. Am still going to call the police tomorrow to see what was done with the dog.
