If we stopped discussing the following, what would that leave us?

Confederate flag, Trump, Roof, lgbt's, -- well, that is not all of the 'hot' topics,
but I think sometimes these thing just go on and on far to long, and that
isn't just here on DU.
Any one else just get tired of these 'breaking news' that keep breaking for
days and days sometimes. (2 convicts is another one)

about that topic. It's really easy to do. I recommend it highly. Few topics last past a week. But, as long as people read and reply to threads, the topic stays alive.

It is funny how this complaint recycles back every once in a while. And one can do an OP on something else to add to the variety

that people are talking about it that you are making a list that goes 'Confederate flag, Trump, Roof and LGBTs'. You lump us in with horrible people and things. That's fairly fucked up.

I'm so tired indiscriminate lumpinfests. I guess they think we're too stupid to notice ... like a FOX audience.

I get so tired of the same stories day after day. Can't we move on to another topic.
I'm sure there is new news daily, let's hear some of it.

That's how topics appear here for discussion. I've posted two today. What would you like to discuss? Just post a thread opener and you're off to the races with a discussion.

Pick a topic from today's news. That's probably the most likely to be of interest.

to me the discussion on the Confederate flag is a discussion on racism and it's history, the discussion on Trump is about racism and a repugnant repub candidate, Roof, again, discusses racism and the violence it brings with it and the discussion on marriage equality, "lgbt's" is about equal rights before the law being affirmed. All important issues, imo.

The nice thing about the topics you cite is that they require no expertise. That's why they're discussed at length. Literally, anyone can have an opinion.

That's also how the American news media operates nowadays. Only feature opinion stories that everyone can get into arguments about.

Are you expecting people to have an opinion about the nature of dark energy? No. That requires knowledge.

This stuff? Requires no knowledge whatsoever.

So, enjoy. The public square is reserved for babbling. And we are world champion babblers. (It's ok. I babble, too).
