Soledad O'brian is on air, which is a repeat, but eveytime

I see what Jim Jones did, it always brings tears to my eyes. I am Guyanese and we had no idea that a cult was existing in the interior. The first time we heard of them was when they applied for membership at the University of Guyana. They were going as the People's Agricultural Temple, needless to say, they were denied any library privileges. Just a few years later, all hell broke lose when the whole community was wiped out by poison. Even MP Ryan was killed when he went there to rescue some people who wanted to leave.

It was a really sad day for Guyanese. When these cases get on air time after time, it makes you realise how wicked some people are. Just wanted to share this with you.

However, I still blame my government for allowing him to set up camp in Guyana and the Guyanese people had no idea. Do you know that we heard the news through Venezuela air and not through Guyana News. We were angry that our government could condone a cult without the people knowing.

It was really tragic, we were all in shock. One death is disastrous far less over 900 and even a representative of the US. Just goes to show you that people who are preachers are not to be trusted as well as those people like Madoff who preyed on vulnerable people!

then when Ryan was killed.

It was just so awful...

Cultists...and just as scary today...I would say the GOP has become a cult...they are vicious in their own way...hiding in plain sight.

But Jonestown surely has to be one of the most horrifying things I have ever seen....

gave Jim Jones a safe haven, without the people knowing. It was a tragedy and no matter how many years later, it still makes you want to cry that so many people died because a psycho was in control.

today...how one party has been taken over by "religious" dogma and everyone give it a pass...
Sociopaths exist in many forms...individuals and groups like the GOP...

What a clown he is! I want Biden to run as am not sure if Hilary will be able to get elected but if she does, that would be great! America is still a gentleman country club.

I have read "Raven: the Untold Story of Jim Jones and His People."

There is also a good website with pictures and information about all those killed.

I lost a friend there. She was only thirty years old. She got caught up in his cult when he was still in Indiana.

It is as much the fault of our government and law enforcement for not seeing the danger of this group. It also reflects poorly on his religious denomination for not doing better background checks and not requiring more education of their pastors before ordination. They are a small, but legitimate non-cultish church.

I don't believe all religion is evil. But the signs were there in Jim Jones early on. The United Methodist Church refused to allow him to attend their seminary because he did not pass their psychological tests.

Your country is not to blame for him.
