By the time he was 23, Bobs voice, with its weight, its unique, gravelly power was redefining not just what music sounded like, but the message it carried and how it made people feel. Today, everybody from Bruce Springsteen to U2 owes Bob a debt of gratitude. There is not a bigger giant in the history of American music. All these years later, hes still chasing that sound, still searching for a little bit of truth. And I have to say that I am a really big fan." (50,254 posts)He kicked Phil out of that limo because he'd just played Phil a new song and Phil DARED to say that he didn't think the song was that great.
He and his friends were also deliberately obnoxious to Joan Baez when she went along on his British tour in '65, because they wanted her to leave(it's why she disappears halfway through DON'T LOOK BACK, the Pennebaker documentary about that tour. Dylan(who had also just broken up with Baez)was being such a total bastard to Joanie at that point that, a few months later, her sister Mimi threatened him with a beatdown while they were all sitting in a restaurant(this incident is recounted in "Positively 4th Street" David Harjo's book about the Dylan-Baez and Richard and Mimi Farina relationships).
(on edit)...Uh, you weren't saying that you LIKED it that Dylan kicked Phil out of the limo, were you?

(17,656 posts)I didn't know any of that crap about Phil Ochs until I read what Iverglas said about it on her forum.
I didn't know any of what you just said about him and Joan Baez, either.
