Ouch! Obama Camp Hits Team Romney: ‘The Hypocrisy Is Breathtaking’

The Obama campaign is up with a new web video Tuesday slamming the Romney campaign’s “double standard” when it comes to judging his jobs-creation record in Massachusetts versus Obama’s record as president. “Romney has undercut his core argument against the president by trying to play by two sets of rules,” deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter says in the video.

On Sunday, senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie said that the Obama campaign was unfairly characterizing Romney’s jobs record as governor of Massachusetts by averaging the earlier years of his term with the last year, even though Romney inherited a bad economy. As TPM noted Sunday, this is exactly what the Romney campaign does when it attacks Obama’s jobs creation record – a fact the Obama campaign has been highlighting since Monday. “Now they use a different standard for assessing President Obama’s record,” Cutter says in the video. “We know the president inherited an economy exponentially worse than what Mitt Romney inherited, yet these same people blame the president for job losses that occurred in January 2009, the very month he was inaugurated and months before any of his policies took place.”

Once, it was over the health care issue and she was up against a loud-mouth Republican. She was grossly unmatched and even let a few false talking points slide without challenge.

A few of my friends who are activists in the LGBT have had several run-ins with her and report that she is not at all sharp or quick on her feet. I've seen it for myself. I think the Obama team can do better. Axelrod, Carney, Cutter...Obama has some lackluster spokespeople on his team. I just think they are too softspoken and milquetoast. We need a James Carville and a Paul Begala. Obama has no friends in the media.

If a point can't be make in 15 seconds the average voter isn't going to get it. I think the repukes do a better job of playing that game. This topic takes more than 15 seconds to explain, therefore it's useless.

Honestly, I think you can talk reason and show data and graphs all you want, but no matter what, a Republican has a certain mindset and hatered for Dems and Obama. I don't know if it's a racist thing, a DNA thing, or a stupid thing... All I know is I've been presenting facts (historical) and graphs, and I get nowhere.

Authoritarians can't RECOGNIZE hypocrisy. They're simply blind to it.

Bob Altemeyer's The Authoritarians does a great job of parsing years of social science data on authoritarians, and one of the personality traits that stands out most for that type is that they are, as a group, very unprincipled. They'll always define things in the way that serves them most in that particular situation, and completely disregard that standard when it does not serve them.

Oddly enough, when they rate *themselves*, they say they are not only highly principled, but the *most* principled. So it's sort of like they begin with the assumption that they are the good guy, and then filter all information around that assumption.
