"It's just nuts around here today."

I voted by absentee ballot a week ago but went to see how things are going at my polling place. I've never seen the like. It's one of those country town halls. There are cars parked on both sides for 2 blocks in each direction. This was at 10:30 in the morning, long after the normal "morning rush" hours. 800 people had already voted. The poll workers were improvising a way to speed up the line by letting the last half of the alphabet in through a side door & a second intake process. I overheard one of the twp's road crew outside saying "It's just nuts around here today."

Thbis road normally carries about 1 vehicle every 10 minutes.

Let us hope that that adage proves true today.

Fingernails disappearing though.

Good luck, Jackpine.

But, when there is a big turnout in reality everyone wins as the results (agreeable or disagreeable) are more representative of the will of the people.

While I'm all for high turnouts, if the turnout is all old, white Republicans who love being shit on by greedy, villainous governors, then it's not so exciting.

Go Barrett!

However, since Republicans seem able to muster 90% of their flock for dogcatcher elections, turnouts like this one indicate that the "unlikely voters" are turning out in droves. This means that the usually apathetic are coming out. And apathy is much more a trait of disillusioned Democrats than of delusional Republicans.

That'd be record territory on it's own.

If, dems and indies in those red towns are keeping us even, then the very strong turnouts reported for Dane Co (estimates of 80% turnout) and City of Milwaukee (no estimates but they are running out of ballots and registration materials) may do the trick.

One of my cousins shared on facebook that she's never been interested in politics before but she's going to vote for Walker. It worries me that the churches have been busy ...

But, I also know historically high turn-out is good for dems. Really hoping that holds true today.

If the republicans are going to win, I'd much rather they do it through a 90% voter turnout that actually favors them, rather than a 25% voter turnout that they bought.

Loads of people calling into Ed's and Stephanie's radio shows today reporting the same thing. Huge numbers of people voting. Lots of Barrett supporters with signs out there, and lots of people honking at them in support.

voters in our little town, I was 112th but that was before noon, might be higher than normal because we usually don't get a great turnout.

I was quite surprised, saw a recall walker sign on someones front lawn that where I had never seen any signs before. Guess there are a few of us around, three that I know of in a 1-1/2 mile distance. Sure hope there are more.

Have gotten a few dirty looks from our 99% and Obama bumper stickers on our car tho. They probably think we're old and senile.

Thanks for the photos and the report, Jackpine. I have been wondering all day about this and this is the first chance I got to check DU.

These ground floor reports are one of the things I like most about DU!

Just COOL!
This inspires some hope.

NOW, give us something to vote FOR,
instead of turning out to vote AGAINST,
and watch The Show!

I just can't get rid of the visions of Populist Democrats running on the FDR platform of the 2nd Bill of Economic Rights for Working People,
and barnstorming states like the Old Kingfish.

Oh well, I can dream.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.
