My view: if these high turnout reports are to be believed, then it's 6-5 an pick 'em who wins...but I don't think we're going to find out tonight. There will be a recount, and that could take weeks...and at that point, anything is possible.
P.S. I also think Walker is in deep shit with these state and federal investigations, so the law may wind up recalling him if the people of Wisconsin do not.
You?

And that John Doe investigation ... Walker will remain untouched and unnamed as a target until after November.

(50,599 posts)It's the dishonest election clerks (or crooks) like Kathy Nickolaus that have me worried. Some kind of vote-flipping bullshit is going with her, I just know it.
DearAbby
(12,461 posts)would make the bullshit they try useless. I feel pretty good about the turnout. Barrett wins, Nickolaus efforts exposes the party.

(13,910 posts)Dane County are the places to watch tonight according to WI_DEM who's got a pretty good pulse on this election. I agree that it will be close and if it is and Walker squeeks it out, it will not to a victory for Republicans nationally.

(2,830 posts)It only takes 1 Republican loss to turn the Senate over. It's currently split.
Walker could lose his Lt Governor.
Walker could be ousted.
The Republicans losing the Senate has a really good chance of occurring.
Sending Walker walking? Seems like a bit of an outside chance but possible.
I would love to see all that Koch Kash being wasted. Let's go Barret!!!

(724 posts)We only have to win one of the three. I'm more confident we'll do one of the above.

If we lose today, I hope to God it's really close or I doubt Obama/Holder will go for it and in this first year of Citizens United, it would be hard to blame them.

High turnouts are good, but we'll have to see where they were and how high they were. We won't know until results are in. Truly we won't.

(562 posts)and tomorrow Barrett goes on the job, firing and indicting every Walker crony he can find...
(and he can - just go back to the personnel records and fire everyone who was hired from 2010 and beyond).

(25,699 posts)Unless Walker is dearly loved in Wisconsin, I'm willing to say that Barrett wins above 56%. Maybe even into the 60% ranges.
119% turnout in Madison (due to same-day registration). I can't imagine these people are that fired up to support the status quo.

(550 posts)I think that as the partisan divide has become more stark, the old rule of turnout = Democratic win has become less reliable.
Without the massive influx - and it really is ludicrous - of money Walker has had funnelled into his campaign, I've no doubt we'd be looking at a 10 point Barrett blow out tonight. As it is, I think the polls will be more or less born out, and that he'll retain his position with 53-55% of the vote.
The thing I really can't get my head around is that WI went easily for Obama in 2008, most polls still show him with a decent enough lead...there's obviously a significant overlap there, there are Obama voters who're more than happy to give Walker the nod in this race. That's sad, and it just goes to show what money can buy you in politics...these are exactly the sort of voters the Romney SuperPacs will be aiming for with their $1b ad blitz.

(24,347 posts)Nowhere near the margin of his last election--in fact, I'd say by less than a percentage point--but the Republicans will claim it is a mandate to do whatever they want, like they always do.
Unless the turnout is absolutely inhuman and all the polling models were wrong...

(29,685 posts)(Wisconsin is a state that allows registration at the polls, hence the "over 100%" turn out).
It could be an incredible amount turning out to vote.

(1,033 posts)If turnout is low, Walker wins. If turnout is high, Barrett wins. It will be very, very close, though. We won't know who won until the early morning hours if we're lucky.
