US Already in 'Recession,' Extend Tax Cuts: Bill Clinton (???)

Former President Bill Clinton told CNBC Tuesday that the US economy already is in a recession and urged Congress to extend all the tax cuts due to expire at the end of the year.

In a taped interview aired on "Closing Bell," the still-popular 42nd president called the current economic conditions a "recession" and said overzealous Republican plans to cut the deficit threaten to plunge the country further into the debt abyss.

"What I think we need to do is find some way to avoid the fiscal cliff, to avoid doing anything that would contract the economy now, and then deal with what's necessary in the long term debt-reduction plans as soon as they can, which presumably would be after the election," Clinton said.

...snip...

However, Clinton did say that Congress would be best off agreeing, at least for the time being, to extend all the tax cuts that are set to expire at the end of the year, including the so-called Bush tax cuts named after Clinton's successor, George W. Bush.

They want it all, but they don't want to pay for it.

Perhaps Bill, you should not have signed the free trade agreements and enabled all of our jobs to be sent overseas.

Perhaps if people had jobs and were paying income tax instead of collecting unemployment and food stamps...we would all be better off?

"Giant Sucking Sound" ring any bells?

We had tariffs for a reason! 'Free' Trade isn't free!!

At the founding of this nation, tariffs paid for 97% of government expenses. Our founders meant for corporations to pay for government, after all they were pulling the most profit off the backs of the American people.

A person who avoided paying tariffs was considered a pirate and hanged.

and it seem we are supposed to believe that he is "just supporting Obama" but, what other President has ever gone out there campaigning for an Incumbent President?" It was not considered a thing that "former Presidents" should do.

I've lived through many US Presidents and not seen anything like this before.

WHY does Obama need or want former President Clinton on the Campaign Trail making statements in his name for support?

Could it be that the Clintons feel that the Presidency needs to Stay within the Family?

Is Bill's ulterior motive to replace Biden with Hillary?

As a lifelong voting Democrat, I find this disturbing. Does anyone else find Clinton's involvement with the Obama Presidency disturbing ....or just part of the "New Politics?"

(I realize there were many DU'ers who wanted Hillary as President...but, she wasn't elected..it was Obama.) So...shouldn't the Clinton's be gracious enough to BOW OUT and let Obama be the President HE WANTS TO BE TO SERVE THE COUNTRY?

I don't remember Carter going after GHB and running around the country making comments.

What's different?
