Wisconsin - A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Koch Brothers
I don't believe in recalls, never have, didn't when Grey Davis was recalled, didn't when this one came along. But, there is a silver lining in all this. Wisconsin has shone a bright light on the Citizens United ruling from our ridiculous Supreme Court.
Another silver lining, Democrats control the state senate, a proper check on Walker's power.
And then another. Walker, his actions and the results of those actions will be highly scrutinized during the remainder of this term, and he will have to defend virtually everything he does against the backdrop of out of state money in 2014 and against unemployment, corporate taxes, education, assaults on the middle class.
And another. Walker is facing an investigation, the results of which will probably give the right opponent more ammunition in 2014. It seems to me that Barrett was never the right opponent for Walker.
Democrats (all democrats), need to coalesce around a decent candidate early, like right now, for 2014).

(116,031 posts)Under WI law, unlimited funds can be spent on recall elections. But I get the basic point, which is that money wins elections irrespective of just about anything else. I think the result would have been the same no matter who the opponent might have been - Barrett lost because he was outspent, and the same would have happened to anyone else. If Jesus Christ had been running against Walker he'd have lost, too. It's all about the money, and I don't know what to do about that.

(5,290 posts)This is a little known back-assed Wisconsin law that dates back to 1987. The challengers campaign contributions are limited. But the incumbent has unlimited funding available. Especially from CORPORATIONS...

(14,881 posts)don't go the recall route.
Hindsight is 20/20. Focus on the investigation and keeping Walker tied down and impotent any way you can while you're stuck with him.
Pressure your democratic senator to keep him too buried in self-defense to actually do anything.
