Big recall of frozen veggis and fruit underway, so check your freezer and throw out any of the products on the list at the link below. (Edited title so it might save the terminally meh-ish -- like me sometimes. )
My big fridge quit so I am using a dorm fridge at present, or I might have some of the products listed in my own freezer.
Just a heads up, DU peeps.
This expanded recall of frozen vegetables includes all of the frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods' Pasco facility since May 1, 2014. All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. These include approximately 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands, the details of which are listed below. Products include organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries. For a complete list of affected products, see below.

Fortunately the frozen stuff we have is not on it but it took a while to go through that list to be sure.
Thanks for posting it.
Even some Costco, Walmart (Great Value brand) and Safeway Brands.
You're welcome. I know a lot of us DUers like our veggies and fruit, and I hope everyone will check the list so nobody gets sick.
Really sucks for the company, though. That's a LOT of product.
Have a good one Egnever!

(12,232 posts)I imagine some people checked earlier, then thought their veggies were ok, but it looks like now they aren't.
Thanks for the update!

Thanks for posting. Luckily, I don't have much frozen veg in the freezer, but I might have one or two of these items.

(19,926 posts)They rebrand major brands and sell them as their own. They have some deal somehow, I remember reading they are not allowed to disclose which brand it actually is underneath the TJ label though...
.
Just flipping through the list, the following TJ's-branded items were there:
Trader Joe's
Trader Joe's Organic Broccoli Florettes 16oz 00542784 Lot 115 16 BF 22:58 C Product of USA

(7,818 posts)Unless the list is expanded, I'm in the clear. The only brands of frozen veggies & fruits we have are either Winco or Flav-R-Pac brands.

(18,186 posts)Glad your frozen stuff wasn't affected, Leith.
I hate to waste food, but definitely would in this case!
My husband and I had some really ragged food poisoning a couple years ago. I won't go into much detail, but neither one of us got any sleep for 2 days.
It was rice, not vegetables, but there's no way we're going through that again.

The only ones I've ever heard of are Safeway, which is not in my area, and Trader Joe's. I wonder if this is mostly not New England stuff.

(250 posts)...be told even if they notice the need for a recall. Sort of like the melamine in the Chinese food. No one knew until babies started dying in China and Australia. And then cats in the US.
I have a freezer full of frozen veggies, But they are much older and I boil the hell out of them anyway or put them in casseroles that I cook for hours.

(250 posts)Sauerkraut that was obviously bad from the start when I opened a can the other day. Can not full and smelled bad and was brown. Like it was over cooked.

(91,055 posts)I hope you know to not ever use swollen or badly dented cans.
Delver Rootnose
(250 posts)..and the can wasn't swollen. And heating kills the botulism bacteria and the toxin it produces. Still wouldn't chance it though.
