For those who worry that our nominee might be in trouble with Independents: no matter who we nominate, they hate Trump more.
Even Rethugs are so-so about Trump.

Just 19% of independents viewed him favorably in the latest poll, while 67% had a negative opinion. Democrats are nearly universally opposed to him, with 97% saying they had a negative view of him. And Republicans are split, 42%-42%, on whether they hold a positive or negative view of the New York businessman.

(17,064 posts)Although it's likely a large number of Independants stay home, which would help Clinton except a lot of liberal Democrats will vote Jill Stein. Greens could smash their record from 2000 (2.5%).

(1,033 posts)there is only one group, excluding Republicans, worrying about a GE of Clinton vs Trump. I've yet to see anything that makes me worried.
Demographics? Call me when white males have a majority.
Independents? See your OP.

Independents aren't feeling the love for any of the front runners. This may end up being the lowest turnout presidential general election we've seen in a while if the trends hold. The bad news is low turnout elections usually end badly for us. The good news is the Republicans are in full meltdown mode at the moment.
