(31,464 posts)They're long-time friends. Trump does NOT want to be president...that means real work. He does not want to work. He has never worked a day in his life, and President'n is way beneath his imagined pay grade.

Trump's shame stops at his bank account ledger. He will say or do anything if it means he makes money and can promote himself in order to make even more money.

(23,994 posts)and many of those people are very powerful and used to having considerable influence in government through the Republican party. it bums them out and pisses them off if he shits the bed, so they're going to do whatever they can to get a win for him whether he wants the job or not.
hell, if he came right out and said he didn't want to be president now, they'd probably leave a severed horse head in his bed or something. even if he doesn't want the gig, he'd damn well better act like he does or there will be consequences -- small warning stuff at first, and then they'd start with the big hits. you don't go this far just to drop out, the power brokers won't allow it. doubtless some of this came up in the very special meeting he just had with the party bosses.

What do you get when a billionaire egomaniac begins to slip into dementia?
A candidate for President.
