TAMPA, Fla.
When a venomous Eastern diamondback rattlesnake appeared in the backyard of a 7-year-old girl, her German shepherd came to her rescue, refusing to back down even when the snake bit him three times. ... In short, Haus is a hero.
It shows you that a rescue dog, for us, paid it forward by protecting my family, said Adam DeLuca of Tampa.
Now hundreds of donors are coming to the familys rescue, quickly topping the goal of $15,000 Friday on a GoFundMe account to help pay for the antivenin needed to keep the dog alive. By Friday afternoon, $35,000 had been raised for the dogs care.
Haus is still recovering in the intensive care unit of Tampas Blue Pearl Emergency Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, and is being treated with antivenin and painkillers, said Dr. John Gicking.

Separation
(1,975 posts)I have 4 dogs. One of them, my boxer Bandit, would trudge through hell and back with me. A rescue dog that we got, named Moxie, would let me know a burgler was in the house as she was running out the back door. My chihuahua, Peanut wouldn't give two shits unless you messed with his food. Lastly, my Maltese, Bell short for Belginum Gilligan Waffle jr., probably set the whole robbery in the first place.
Moxie, our rescue dog, is half boxer and half hound. Some asshole left her locked in a bathroom in an apartment after they moved. She was 2 months old at the time. The landlord didn't find her for 3 days and she was almost on her deathbed. She still won't go into a bathroom, and is still very skittish, but she loves hopping up beside me and letting me rub on her ears like a blanket wooby.

(11,803 posts)My chihuahua is such a nightmare with his food. His brother dogs are petrified to even walk past the room in which he eats (obviously he's separated because he's a food-jerk).
Separation
(1,975 posts)Yep, mine has to eat in our bedroom at dinner time. Not just because he gets pissy when the other dogs go near his food, but because we have him on a special diet as well to help him loose weight. Lol he was 19lbs but we got him down to 11lbs now.

Snip: William Schallert was stumped by the first shot we gave him, which was from "The High and the Mighty," and he said "My God, that's Regis Toomey!" in the shot with him. He talked about William Wellman, who directed the film, and Richard Erdman, who was sitting next to Mr. Schallert, told us about his own encounter with Wellman, which broke Wellman's thumb and got Erdman in a lot of trouble. He didn't remember the "Thriller" episode shot I had him sign, with Ed Nelson in the shot, but said it had to be him because it was his lousy posture.
Richard Erdman on the right. He is still working.
