The "family values" folks are delusional

A majority of them seem to think that they "owe" society-in-general, nothing.

They seem to not understand what family values means.

They understand that they have to pick up the tab for their unemployed 8 yr old kid...and for their unemployed Grandpa who may live with/near them.

They seem to think that every penny they send to the government in taxes, is still somehow "controllable" BY them.

I object to MY tax dollars being spent on wars and corporate welfare, but I also know that my tax dollars are co-mingled with the tax dollars of everyone else, and are NOT controlled by me.

While it's annoying to think that someone who scams the government for assistance they may not "need", or that somewhere, someone may be getting health care they "might" be able to afford to pay for someday, it's not up to ME (personally) to determine eligibility or to punish the ones who cheat the system.

Sometimes I think that if they could get away with it, some in our government would gladly "get rid of" the unproductive...the users..the old/sick/handicapped, if it meant they could save a buck.

One of their favorite catch phrases is "I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's _______". The blank is usually health care, welfare, and the like.

My reply is "I don't like my tax dollars paying for wars I don't agree with, YOUR kids education, or giving tax breaks to big corporations". (I include their kids education because it hits home, I really don't have a problem being taxed for education.) I usually follow that by if I can't' decide how my taxes are spent why should you. They back off a bit then.

When the South Carolina Governor was caught in his illicit affair, using state resources, it was 50/50 for impeachment. What kept it at 50/50 was that family values voters stood behind him 90/10. Now I doubt 10% of them would have ever supported ignoring the Clinton impeachment, (where no misuse of public funds occurred) so.... at least 80% lack morals and are full of shit.
