The Daily BeastFormer GOP senator Bob Bennett lay partially paralyzed in his bed on the fourth floor of the George Washington University Hospital. He was dying.
Not 48 hours had passed since a stroke had complicated his yearlong fight against pancreatic cancer. The cancer had begun to spread again, necessitating further chemotherapy. The stroke had dealt a further blow that threatened to finish him off.
Between the hectic helter-skelter of nurses, doctors, and well wishes from a long-cultivated community of friends and former aides, Bennett faced a quiet moment with his son Jim and his wife Joyce.
Instead, with a slight slurring in his words, Bennett drew them close to express a dying wish: Are there any Muslims in the hospital? he asked.
Id love to go up to every single one of them to thank them for being in this country, and apologize to them on behalf of the Republican Party for Donald

Also, big wiretapping proponent and a man who personally attempted to block the rights of LGBT in DC. He tried to do that all by himself, this guy who has now become fearful of his own maker, with very good reason.
I note he did not care to apologize to the Mexicans, one can assume he still agreed with Trump about them, eh? Also not getting any words of regret, LGBT, as usual DU is cheering for Republicans who harassed LGBT, it's Hillary's Love Song To Ronnie all over again.
OP, you are a NYer. I hope to hell you know the actual truth and real history. If you don't, you don't know your own city in the slightest.
Now return to your celebrations of the man who said 'build a border wall, keep them out and don't let the gays marry!'
"The Senate defeated an amendment to the health care legislation that would suspend the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses in the District Thursday.
The amendment, proposed on Tuesday by Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah), would have forced the District to call a referendum on whether or not its marriage bureau can issue same-sex marriage licenses. The amendment would have been attached to the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010, which President Obama signed into law on Tuesday."
