Just before Ollie the collie was to be euthanized, a sharp-eyed vet intern spots the problem: A tick

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A paralyzed collie just moments from being euthanized and his Oregon owners have more days to share thanks to a sharp-eyed vet intern who spotted the culprit - a tick.

KPTV in Portland reports (https://is.gd/ilDKmI ) that Ollie's owner Falline Fate says a thorough check at the vet revealed no answers to why he couldn't stand, walk or do everything else a dog needs to do. So they made the tough decision to let him go.

But just before he was to be put to sleep, a tick was discovered behind the dog's ear.

Aside from an unflattering haircut, Ollie was back to his energetic self about 10 hours after the tick was removed.

To see whats going on with the skin under all that fur. No matter what length. Ticks, fleas, cancer etc. The dog cant speak and tell you where it hurts. So shaving to the skin is important at least once a year.

An added benefit. It keeps the dog from shedding for a year or at least 6 months!

And its a relief for very hot weather too. Its good to put a sweater or coat on the dog for a couple weeks while its growing a new coat. It might be cold or get sunburned without it.
