Classic @realDonaldTrump. First appease anti-Semitic white supremacists, then pretend it never happened, added Michael Skolnick, with the hashtag #StarofDavid.
The initial tweet, with the tagline, Crooked Hillary -- Makes History! soon disappeared from Trumps twitter timeline.
But it continued to circulate as outraged users shared screenshots of the initial tweet on social media.

Donald Trump has given up on winning historically literate voters. Consider the theme of his major foreign policy speech Wednesday: "America first."
This slogan is most associated with aviator Charles Lindbergh, who spent a great deal of time in the late 1930s gushing at how wonderful the Third Reich was. Before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Lindbergh helped form "America First" committees that campaigned to keep the U.S. from fighting the Axis Powers. Lindbergh rose to become a demagogue and accused President Franklin Roosevelt of colluding with a Jewish lobby and Britain to drag America into World War II.
For years this phrase was toxic. Pat Buchanan has used it from time to time, but "America first" and the idea it represented -- American neutrality towards the Nazis -- has been largely banished from respectable discourse.

His mistake is thinking his radical extremist fans aren't going to turn on him if he is elected president.

(17,199 posts)Donald Trump finally has a response to the controversy of his Star of David tweet: Its your mistake, not mine. Two days after Trump tweeted and swiftly deleted a Hillary Clinton attack ad featuring a Star of David over a pile of money, the monster mogul on Monday fell back on the ridiculous claim that the image shows a Sheriffs Star.
Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff's Star, or plain star! he tweeted in the morning. He recycled the sheriffs badge excuse after several Trump surrogates including his fired campaign manager Corey Lewandowski tried it out in the media over the weekend.
But Trumps tweet failed to cover any of the ethical or logical gaps from his controversial tweet. For one thing, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee didnt explain how the image made its way from a neo-Nazi message board to his 9.4 million Twitter followers.
He offered no explanation for why he deleted the original tweet within minutes, then replaced it with an identical image, featuring a circle poorly Photoshopped over the Star of David.

(3,072 posts)If that is what it was supposed to be (which clearly it wasn't since it is from a neo-nazi website), how would a sheriff's badge make any sense on that graphic? That is such a half assed excuse. I don't know if Trump intended it to be a star of david but it came from a neo-nazi website and they are still trying to defend it. That is what is fucking stupid.

(17,199 posts)Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has denounced a recent Donald Trump tweet featuring Hillary Clinton and a six-pointed star, calling the image anti-Semitic.
The image, which Trump tweeted on July 2, shows Hillary Clinton, along with the words most corrupt candidate ever emblazoned on a Star of David and a pile of $100 bills in the background. He posted the image with the words, Crooked Hillary Makes History!
In an interview with Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes on Tuesday, Ryan was asked about Trumps use of the image. He replied, anti-Semitic imagestheyve got no place in a presidential campaign. Candidates should know that. The tweet has been deleted and I dont know how long he put this up there. Obviously theyve got to fix that.
Ryan also said that Trump needs to clean this up.
